Fire is a new piano cycle inspired by cosmological transformation in Chinese philosophy.

Where Emergence explored growth through a human story, Fire turns outward toward elemental forces, motion, and change. Drawing on cycles of transformation and return, the project reflects forces that shape both the universe around us and the lives within it. The cycle begins in stillness and unfolds through a series of interconnected works that trace the movement of energy in different forms.

Fire is one of the oldest symbols shared across cultures. 

​

It can represent warmth and creation, but also transformation, renewal, and the energy that drives change. Unlike water, which adapts through flow, fire transforms through action. It illuminates, reshapes, and leaves behind something different from what existed before.

One aspect of the Chinese character 火 (huǒ) that fascinates me is how, in its modern form, it can almost be read as a human figure surrounded by rising energy. Whether viewed as a pictograph of flame or as a symbolic image of transformation, it reflects a central idea of this project: that change is both elemental and deeply human.
